On Saturday, August 23, 2025, we’re excited to host our very first collaboration event with Nono Gaka LLC: a hands-on Japanese painting workshop titled “No-no-Wa.”
Below is an excerpt from the official press release:
Each workshop session lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Participants will be guided by Japanese painter Mie Tatsuki, who oversees the No-no-Wa project. For each location, she prepares original designs specially created to match the setting.
After a short introduction to the fundamentals of Nihonga (traditional Japanese painting), participants will select their favorite motif and go through the following steps:
Transferring: tracing the outline of the artwork onto special paper
Line work: outlining the drawing with ink
Coloring: adding color using iwa-enogu—natural mineral pigments traditionally used in Nihonga
All tools, including authentic brushes and pigments, are the same as those used by professional artists. And best of all, participants can take home their completed work the very same day.
This workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience the process of creating traditional Japanese art from start to finish.
